Ingredients

Parada,
Gandhaka
Vatsanabha,
Ajamoda,
Triphala,
Trikatu,
Sarjakshara,
Yavakshara,
Saindhava,
Chitraka,
Vidanga,
Jeeraka – all equal quantity
Kupilu – equal of the total ingredients ( 18 parts).

Action

  • Amapachaka, agnideepaka – Used in ajirna, atisara, aamavatha, vata roga, kaphavruta vata and kaphavruta pitta.

  • Koshtagatha and dhatugata ama pachaka.

  • Here ajamoda, trikatu, chitraka and specially two kshara and saindhava, lavana are playing a main role in reducing kapha dushti in aamashaya, aamapachana and produces udgara shuddhi, where anybody feels heaviness of abdomen after every food, hrid gourava, pichilata and upalepa in jihva, hrillasa then the drug of choice is agnitundi vati.

  • Kupilu is best known for its vatahara and shoolaghna property, in udara shula with aama, it acts well. And in dhatugata ama as in aamavata it is useful, so in amavatha it is given with ananda bhairava rasa.

Uses

  • In any vata vyadhi where amayukta shula is present agnitundi is useful drug with guggulu kalpa.

  • When peristalitic movement is reduced due to indigestion, or decreased bile secretion, food is retained in intestine for a longer duration producing toxic effect – called annavisha, it very well observed in appendicitis, in this condition agnitundi works well.

  • When in vatavahini, or maamsa tantu dushti with kapha and vata is observed, like in pakshaghata, activity of muscle fibre is decreased and kapha dosha is also found( kaphavruta vata ) ,then agnitundi is used with other medicines.

Note:

Because it contains kupilu in larger dose, it should be used carefully in hypertensive and cardiac patients, and better not to use in small children.
